SNC in the 1990s The 1990s were a time of tremendous change and growth for SNC. In a ten-year span, from 1989 to 1999, our membership doubled in size from 111 to 221 members. With this increased number of diverse members, came the need for more club activities, committees and special events. In 1989, SNC had four monthly club activities, including Arts & Crafts, Lunch Bunch, Couples Gourmet, and three Bridge groups (one smoking, one non-smoking, and one evening for couples). In 1999, SNC had grown to 17 monthly club activities. In addition to the existing groups, they added: Beginner’s Golf, Book Club, Needlework, Canasta, Film Series, Fun N’ Games, History, Social Sippers, Travel, Footloose (dancing?) Petal Pushers (garden club?) Portfolio/Investment and a Men’s Cooking Group! The cost of being a member went up too…but not much. In 1989, dues were $7.50 and by 1999, they had increased to $12.00. Luncheon prices (except for December) went from a high of $8.00 to a high of $12.00. Luncheon venues varied over the years as the club accommodated its growing membership.
